April 5, 2000
Congratulations! You were one of the lucky runners picked to participate in the 2000 Knee Knacker. We are looking forward to seeing you bright and early on Saturday July 8th for our 12th Annual fun run.
We received 222 applications for entry this year. We have approval for 175 runners this year. As a result, the organizing committee accepted 210 entries through the lottery. Unfortunately that also meant that 12 runners were not selected in the lottery.
It is my pleasure to introduce the 2000 Race Committee:
| Banquet: | Amanda Barlow and Jim Helten |
| Aid Stations & Volunteers: | Barb Adair |
| Training Runs & Work Party: | Rod Hatfull and Chris Mager |
| Webmaster and my mentor: | Enzo Federico |
Please give these people your thanks and support.
Although it is still early, it looks like this years run will not have last years snowy conditions. Runners will still have to deal with snow patches, but not last years 8km worth. An excellent way to become acclimatized to the course and conditions is to participate in the 2000 Training program.
We have scheduled a work party for Saturday, June 3rd at 8 am @ Grouse Mountain Trailhead. Chris Mager (736-9966) will be organizing this years general fix-up party. Entry into Knee Knacker also makes you a member of the Northshore Ultra Trailrunning Society (N.U.T.S.). N.U.T.S. has adopted the Baden-Powell trail section from Grouse Mountain Skyride to Mosquito Creek. Please give Chris a call to confirm your help in this effort. Coffee and treats will be provided!
Your entry is NOT transferable, i.e. you cannot sell or give it away to anyone else. You will be required to provide identification at the pre-race registration. The week before last years race, I allowed 10 waiting list runners in to bring the total entrants at that point to 180. A few runners had informed me that they were doubtful starters, so I figured it was a safe bet that I would have 175 starters. Unfortunately we had 165 starters last year. This meant I could have let in more people off the waiting list! Moral of the story, if you cant run tell me so I can allow someone else to run in your absence. All withdrawals must be in writing or email. The Y2K refund schedule is as follows: By April 30th, refund $60; by May 30th, refund $45; and by June 30th, refund $30.
Please checkout our Website (http://www.kneeknacker.com) for additional race information. Should you receive this via snail mail and have an E-mail address, please E-mail me with this address. And finally, I would love to have all entrants meet their individual Knee Knacker goals this year. If I can help, please do not hesitate to e-mail or call.
