Congratulations! You were one of the lucky runners picked to participate in the 2001 Knee Knacker. We are looking forward to seeing you bright and early on Saturday July 14^th for our 13^th annual fun run.

We received 270 applications (the most ever!) for entry this year, and have approval for only 175 runners. As a result, the organizing committee accepted 233 entries through the lottery. This allows for a dropout rate of about 25% prior to race day. Unfortunately, that also meant that 37 runners were not selected in the lottery.

To kick off the spring trail-running season, North Shore Athletics will be hosting a Runners night at the store (#101, 1200 Lonsdale Ave., North Vancouver, BC) on Thursday April 5, from 6:30 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. Please join us for a fun evening of:

• Socializing with your fellow runners and race organizers (munchies & drinks provided by NSA)
• Education, with a panel discussion featuring Knee Knacker veterans with their training/racing tips
• Shopping, with special discounts on clothing, footwear, hydration systems, …
• Meeting some of our key sponsors – NSA, Adidas, Powerbar, …
• Draw prizes, and more!

If you think there is a good possibility you will make it, please reply to this e-mail. This will give us an idea of how much food & drink to have on hand.

Make sure you check out our Web site (http://www.kneeknacker.com) for additional information on the Runners night, and all aspects of the race. This will be our primary means of communication. You will receive 1 more e-mail in mid-June with final details for race weekend. The list of runners on the Web site has been updated with your choice of garment type (T-shirt or technical) and size. Please let us know if we’ve made any errors.

One thing that this race can never get enough of is - volunteers! We have a ratio of just over 1 volunteer for each runner. If you know of anyone (families, friends, acquaintances, …) who would like to help out with any aspect of the race, please contact our Volunteer Coordinators – Amanda Barlow & Jim Helten @ volunteers@kneeknacker.com.

Please remember that your entry is NOT transferable, i.e. you cannot sell or give it away to anyone else. You will be required to provide identification at the pre-race registration. If you can’t run, please tell me so I can allow someone else to run in your absence. All withdrawals must be in writing or email. The refund schedule for 2001 is as follows: by April 30^th, refund $60; by May 31^st, refund $40; and by June 30^th, refund $30. If you have ordered a technical garment instead of a T-shirt, $25 will be added to each of these amounts.
