Extreme Makeover (Trail Edition)
"Goooooood morning, trail runners!! Rise and shine, we're here to change your world!!!!!! We're gonna spend the next seven hours and turn this gnarly, beat up, worn out old trail into a showcase for trail users everywhere!" (Megaphone squawks)

Or so you can imagine it if Ty Pennington were to apply his hyperactive self to trail maintenance instead of home demolition/renovation. No Sears furniture, bizarre bedroom ideas, or run-of-the-mill kitchen cabinetry for us, though. It's strictly rough hewn lumber, steel rebar, dirt, rocks, and lots of sweat and hard work.

This year's Knee Knacker Trail Day will take place on the Baden Powell Trail in the area anecdotally known as the Seymour Grind, near Hyannis Drive. This is a long stretch of trail that rises 300m over 1km. A major trail rehabilitation project will take place on this section involving several running groups over a period of 4-6 weeks. We'll be working under the guidance of North Vancouver District Parks.

Trail Day is Saturday, May 28. Many volunteers makes for light work so we hope you--and friends and family--can come out to help for a few hours. There will be coffee and treats from Delany's Coffee. No special skills required, although if you have a chainsaw we'd really love to have you.

RSVP by Wednesday, May 18. Although you can come and help at the last minute, an early reply will help us plan for the goodies and organize the amount of work we can do on the trail.

To volunteer for Trail Day, email Bonnie (Knee Knacker 2005 Volunteer Director) via the feedback form at http://www.kneeknacker.com/feedback.htm .

Hope to see you there!
